Finding the values of an Algebraic Expressions
The following procedure can be used to find the value of an algebraic expression for the given values of literals involved in it.
Procedure
Step 1: Write the algebraic expression.
Step 2: Obtain the values of literals involved in the expression.
Step 3: Replace each literal by its numeric value to obtain an arithmetical expression.
Step 4: Simplify the arithmetical expression obtained in step 3 by the usual method of arithmetic.
Step 5: The value obtained in step 4 is the required value.

For example: If x= 1 and y=2, then value of algebraic expression 3x + 2y – 7 will be = 0
